Who We Are

Lestari Cendekia began with a quiet observation.

Many Malaysians in their 40s and 50s manage their money for years — paying into EPF, holding insurance policies, running credit cards — without ever sitting down to read what those documents actually say. Not out of carelessness, but because no one ever walked them through it.

Lestari Cendekia was founded in Kuala Lumpur to address that gap. The name means, roughly, a lasting and learned condition — which is what we hope each participant takes away. Not a certificate, not a strategy product, but a quiet, durable sense of how their own money is arranged.

We opened our first course intake in early 2023 at our premises in Mont Kiara. Since then, we have run three cohorts of the introductory course, two of the statements reading course, and we are now into the second year of the retirement engagement programme.

Our facilitators come from backgrounds in accounting, financial planning, and adult education. None of them sell financial products. The work here is instruction — patient, unhurried, and grounded in the paperwork participants already hold.

Our Mission

To make financial literacy accessible to every Malaysian over 40 who wants it — through small-group courses, plain language, and a pace that respects where each person is starting from.

Our Values

  • Patience. We do not rush sessions or push participants to understand faster than they do.
  • Plainness. Every term is explained. Nothing is assumed. Jargon earns its place or it is left out.
  • Integrity. We do not benefit from what participants do with their money. We earn only from course fees.

How We Work

Standards we hold to, in every course.

Qualified Facilitators Only

All course facilitators hold relevant professional qualifications in financial planning, accounting, or adult education. Backgrounds are verified before appointment.

No Product Sales — Ever

No facilitator or staff member may recommend, sell, or receive commission on any financial product. This is a standing policy with no exceptions, reviewed annually.

Participant Privacy

Financial details shared within sessions are held in strict confidence. We do not share participant data with third parties. All records are stored securely.

Session Summaries

Every group session concludes with a brief written record of the main points covered. Participants receive this before the next session begins.

Annual Curriculum Review

Course materials are reviewed each year to reflect any changes to EPF rules, tax legislation, insurance regulations, or other relevant Malaysian financial law.

Post-Course Feedback

We collect written feedback from all participants after each cohort. This informs what we improve — including how we explain difficult sections and how sessions are paced.

What We Offer

Financial literacy, at the pace of adult life in Malaysia.

Lestari Cendekia operates three distinct programmes, each designed to serve a particular need. The introductory course is for people who have not previously looked at their household money as a whole. The statements course is for those who want to read their own EPF, banking, and insurance documents with confidence. The retirement engagement programme is for those who are within ten to fifteen years of stopping full-time work and would like to think through what comes next — carefully, and without being sold anything.

All three courses are conducted in Kuala Lumpur at our Mont Kiara premises. English is the working language throughout, with Bahasa Malaysia used where it aids clarity. The Malaysian financial context — EPF, Amanah Saham Bumiputera, Takaful, PTPTN, and the relevant statutory agencies — is central to everything we teach.

The courses are not designed for people who want to trade equities or build investment portfolios. They are designed for people who want to understand what they already hold, make fewer decisions in the dark, and feel quietly competent in front of their own paperwork. That is a narrower purpose than many financial education offerings, and we think the narrowness is the point.
